PM advices to dissolve Parliament

The Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry has adviced the Acting President Ratu Josefa Iloilo to dissolve Parliament and hold fresh elections.

In a meeting which he had with Ratu Josefa Iloilo, he stated that the country's government needed a fresh mandate from the people. He was accompanied by the leaders of the VLV, Panu and GVP, as well as a nominee of the leader of the Fijian Association.

Meanwhile it is understood that there are about 6 potential claimants to the Prime Ministership. Included are SVT leader Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, VLV leader Poseci Bune, FLP's Dr. Tupeni Baba, Joeli Kalou, and Lavenia Padarath. All except Lavenia Padarath are banking on the success of the propaganda that an ethnic Fijian should be the Prime Minister of Fiji.

It is understood that aspirants have been told by the Acting President that this is a matter for the Parliament to consider and that they should take this up when the Parliament is reconvened. It is understood that the President has strongly indicated that he wants the Parliament reconvened.
