Labour launches manifesto today

Issue No: 982; 28 July 2001

The Fiji Labour Party will be launching its election campaign and the election manifesto today in Tavua.

The public launch follows the party's delegates conference yesterday at Garvey Park in Tavua.

The Party's manifesto is somewhat similar to the 1999 election manifesto which had swept the party to a massive electoral victory. The manifesto, however, has been revised and crucial policy matters explained. The 20-page manifesto is billed as an excellent document.

Yesterday, the Party heard that the Labour Party will again form the government because of its massive support in Fiji.

The Labour Party is the only multi-racial political party in Fiji. It is dedicated to raising the welfare of the poor and the vulnerable section of the country. About 50% of the people in Fiji suffer from poverty.
