Ethnic cleansing

28 feb

Dear Sir,

I could not help taking note of one sentence in your news article no. 501 where you mention that Tailevu people have bought 800 knives.

With what is going on in Indonesia now, and what has happened in Bosnia, I wonder whether the plan is to similarly cleanse Fiji of ethnic Indians.

Anyone following the recent ethnic cleansing in the Indonesian province of Kalimantan would be aware that the military has continued to remain on the side watching as the Dayak tribesmen go about their killing spree.

In Fiji you have seen the military and the police both stand on the side and let the looters raid, pillage and burn Suva. They stood on the side and let the thugs raid, rape and burn Dawasamu. And the military and the police stood on the side while some even participated in the raids and the rape and the plunder in Muaniweni.

A similar thing will happen the next time when the terrorists attack [ethnic] Indians.

I can not believe that the military and the police have not investigated the rumour of the hundreds of knives being taken by villagers. Isnt it as simple as ascertaining from the hardware and other similar outlets whether indeed this is true? If they haven't investigated, you should be prepared for the worst because again the military and the police will at best stand on the side and let the ethnic cleansing continue.

And this time it will not stop with the [ethnic] Indians. It will extend to the [ethnic] Chinese, the Europeans, and the people from outside Viti Levu, Lauans in particular. Tailevu and Naitasiri will only be content when all outsiders leave their provinces. We have seen their hatred for others on 19th May and after.

Sad…. how a people proclaiming to be Christian, display such hatred.
